Castellan’s house in Vilnius, Lithuania

Castellan’s house in Vilnius, Lithuania. The following photographs explore the sequence of space from the first floor entrance to the top floor of the Castellan’s house. Designed by Lithuanian architects ProcessOffice, this renovation project was completed in 2024. The stair is similar to the one at the Latvian National Museum of Art in Riga, Latvia to the exception that it is a double L-shaped staircase with no risers. The resulting transparency gives the stair a lightness and the viewer the ability to see through them to the adjacent spaces and existing load bearing wall. (Photographs: author’s collection)
